ELEVENTH PLATEAU: HYDRA GREECE: July - Oct 2011

The wonderful ELEVENTH PLATEAU project examines a meticulous kind of compositional practice in which the 'machinery' of nature and the 'machinery' of art become one in eleven different 'sites-terrains' on the Greek island of Hydra. It is a collaboration of architects, environmentalists, archaeologists, artists and community involvement, an interdisciplinary practice and discourse on the subject of eco-aesthetics, ecosystems, landscape reconstruction and its meaning for traditional cultural heritage. I shall be presenting the dual screen version of IDDU

Hydra is a vehicle-free oasis which has achieved the preservation of its distinct historical and architectural landscape through community involvement, warding off the hungry investors who want to alter the traditional landscape and lifestyle the like of which is so threatened all over the world.
